As 2019 moves along,  I’ve got two new class offerings on the horizon.  These workshops coincide with the Jewish Holiday of Shavuot, which celebrates the receiving of the Torah.  Join me!

Whether you are a beginner or experienced metalsmith this unique project is spiritual, fun and fulfilling!
We offer workshops for kids, teens, and adults.   Work with us in our San Francisco studio.

 

 

 

 

Tuition:   $150 per student  –  classes are at least  3 hours

Class Size:  3 students minimum,  maximum 6 students.  Classes run on time.  Plan to arrive 15 minutes early.

Registration:  Click here for online registration.  Registration ends one week before the workshop.   Cancellations will result in a credit towards a future class.  No cash refunds.  Class fees must be paid by the workshop date.  When you register online, select “local pickup” in the shipping window to avoid postage charges.

This workshop includes:

  • The meaning and spiritual use of the Jewish tradition of the Mezuzah
  • All copper sheet, use of tools and a paper mezuzah scroll

Metal smithing techniques you will learn:

  • Annealing (yes, you will use a torch)
  • Stamping with Hebrew and English letter stamps, and decorative stamps
  • Wire work
  • Copper forming
  • Drilling
  • Filing
  • Sanding
  • Patina

Youth Workshop

  • Ages 8 – 17 years of age must have a parent or guardian fill out the medical release form 
  • For day-long workshops,  bring healthy lunch and snack
  • There are outdoor and indoor play spaces as well
     

General Safety:

 

  • Participants must wear close toed shoes (leather preferred), long pants (denim is preferred). No skirts, dresses, yoga pants.
  • Wear cotton or wool blends (at least 50% cotton or wool preferred.)  Avoid/limit polyester.
  •  Tie Back long hair or bring a hair tie.
  • If participant wears glasses, bring them.
  • Arrive rested and fed.  If you are sick, please take a credit towards a future class.
  • The garage can be chilly, wear layers.
  • Classes run on time.  Plan to arrive 15 minutes early.

 

Optional Additional:

  • Kosher scrolls are available in person or online for $45
  • Sterling silver sheet is $1.50 per gram, subject to availability.  (Adult classes only)

Private Workshops and Fundraisers
  • Synagogues and Spiritual Centers can sponsor private group classes with wine and cheese reception
  • The class can be given as a auction donation for a fundraiser for your favorite spiritual non-profit
