This is from the Jewish Community Relations Council:

On Tuesday afternoon, the Richmond City Council is scheduled to vote on an inflammatory and biased resolution accusing Israel of ethnic cleansing and apartheid in Gaza. You can read the full text of the proposed resolution here.

We need you to tell the Richmond City Council: “Vote No on Anti-Israel Resolution R-1”

1) Email the City Council Now:

Here’s the sample text, that I modified to be personal to me:

“Dear Richmond City Council Members,
I am a San Francisco resident and a granddaughter of Holocaust Survivors.  I am writing in strong opposition to Tuesday’s Resolution Item R-1 – an inflammatory and biased statement about the Israel-Hamas conflict. Not only does the resolution lack any factual basis, but it will also deeply exacerbate the trauma and vulnerability of the local Jewish community.  I am terrified by this Resolution and the possibility that you might pass it.

Among its many glaring shortcomings, the proposed resolution fails to mention that this conflict started after Hamas terrorists murdered 1,400 innocent Israeli citizens and foreign nationals. In addition, the resolution text falsely accuses Israel of ethnic cleansing and collective punishment, while offensively referencing the Holocaust to condemn Israel’s response to the Hamas attacks.  If Israel wanted ethnic cleansing, why would they offer a two state solution 5 times, only to be rejected?  There are so many falsehoods, and misunderstandings!”

In the wake of the Hamas terrorist attacks our local Jewish community is feeling unsafe and terrified, and this resolution’s lack of empathy for Jews will only exacerbate the pain the community is feeling. Instead of sowing division, I am asking City Council to condemn all forms of hate and take steps to support all residents with loved ones in the region.

Feel free to reach out to me directly if you would like to discuss, or have any questions— 415-533-2433.  Thank you for your consideration.

Aimee”

 But wait! There’s more! ?

SF DCCC Anti-Israel Resolution is an Outrage!

Israelis are still grieving deep and unfathomable losses in the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust.

Among the resolution’s more egregious problems:
  • The text questions the legitimacy of the Jewish people’s claim to Israel as their indigenous homeland.
  • Worse, it blames the victims for the October 7 attack, in which 1,400 people—including infants, children, and the elderly—were either executed or kidnapped. Some were tortured or raped. Families are still burying their dead.
  • The resolution also calls for an immediate ceasefire and end to the blockade of Gaza without recognizing the genocidal intent of Hamas or offering any solutions that will actually keep Israelis safe.
The committee meets to vote on this resolution via Zoom at its meeting on Wednesday, October 25, at 6:30 p.m. Join JCRC Bay Area’s call for the authors to retract or the committee to vote down the resolution.
